Do I apply directly to the mine?

Sometimes, but not always. A lot of starter roles are advertised by contractors, labour hire companies, service providers and shutdown crews. Search the mine name, but also search the role type and nearby town.

Are Hunter Valley jobs FIFO or DIDO?

The Hunter Valley is mostly local, residential or drive-in drive-out territory rather than classic remote FIFO. Always check the ad because roster, travel and accommodation arrangements vary.

What should I search with no mining experience?

Start with trainee operator, dump truck trainee, labourer, trade assistant, cleaner, storeperson, apprentice, shutdown worker and CHPP operator. Then add the mine name or town.

Does open cut vs underground matter?

Yes. It can affect the work environment, medical requirements, training pathway, tickets and the kind of roles advertised.
