Hunter Valley Operations

HVO North and HVO South form one of the region’s largest mining complexes. Job ads commonly shorten the site name to HVO.
Mount Thorley Warkworth

Two adjacent open-cut mines run as one integrated operation. Search both MTW and Mount Thorley Warkworth when checking vacancies.
Bulga Coal

An established open-cut operation south-west of Singleton. Ads may refer to Bulga Coal, Bulga Open Cut or simply Bulga.
United Wambo Joint Venture
Operated byGlencore-managed joint venture with Peabody
A 50:50 open-cut joint venture using Wambo infrastructure. Do not assume every Wambo-branded role belongs to the same employer or operation.
Wambo Underground
Operated byPeabody
A separate underground operation within the wider Wambo complex. Verify current recruitment and closure timing before treating an older vacancy as active.
Rix’s Creek
Operated byThe Bloomfield Group
A locally significant operation incorporating Rix’s Creek South and Rix’s Creek North. Search the mine name as well as Bloomfield.
Integra Underground
Operated byGlencore
Located near Glennies Creek and Middle Falbrook Road. Those place names can also appear in site directions and job advertisements.
Ashton
Operated byYancoal
An underground operation north-west of Singleton with surface and CHPP roles as well as underground pathways.
Mt Arthur Coal
Operated byBHP
A major Muswellbrook operation with a defined closure pathway. Current work remains relevant, but applicants should understand the 2030 timeline.
Bengalla
Operated byBengalla Mining Company
A large open-cut mine close to Muswellbrook with a strongly local workforce. Search Bengalla and Bengalla Mining Company.
Mount Pleasant Operation
Operated byMACH Energy
Located close to Muswellbrook and supported by major contractors. Search both Mount Pleasant and MACH Energy.
Maxwell Underground
Operated byMalabar Resources
The Hunter Valley’s newest longwall operation, officially opened in 2026. Search Maxwell, Malabar Resources and Maxwell Infrastructure.
Mangoola
Operated byGlencore
West of Muswellbrook and north of Denman. The commute can be very different from a Singleton-area site, so check the map before applying.
Ravensworth Operations
Operated byGlencore
A large open-cut complex on the New England Highway corridor. Ads may use Ravensworth Operations or a contractor’s name.
Mt Owen / Glendell
Operated byGlencore
The complex includes Mt Owen, Ravensworth East and Glendell areas sharing infrastructure. Check the exact work area named in each ad.
Dartbrook
Operated byDartbrook Operations / receivers
The mine has an approved life extension but underground production is not currently a normal operating pathway. Verify any vacancy directly.
